Pacific Aquarius / Concept dossier

Oregon seawater.
A Great Salt Lake destination.

A destination-scale public work

Bring seawater from Oregon’s west coast to the Great Salt Lake and build a resort-style destination around the water infrastructure. The goal is to turn a public expense into a profitable venture.

Discuss the concept

The vision in pictures

Make the dream legible.

The illustrations are concept plates: a cinematic argument for scale, public imagination, and a working system beneath the spectacle.

Plate 01System route
Concept map showing a Pacific Coast seawater intake routed to the Great Salt Lake and a large-scale desalination plant

The ocean becomes the opening move.

The core proposal brings seawater from Oregon’s west coast to the Great Salt Lake. Route selection, pumping, energy, and lake impacts require independent engineering and environmental study.

Plate 02Works reference
Illustrative infrastructure reference for the proposed Pacific Aquarius waterworks

Infrastructure with a public face.

A destination resort inspired by Disneyland’s scale and immersive visitor experience would sit alongside the proposed waterworks, bringing hospitality, recreation, and attractions into the project’s commercial model.

Plate 03System identity
Pacific Aquarius western water system map concept

A new icon for western water.

The concept is a working public work with the cultural gravity of a destination: clear enough to understand, serious enough to engineer.

Plate 04Source and conveyance
Concept illustration of a Pacific Coast seawater intake and inland conveyance corridor

Pump the ocean inland.

An Oregon Coast intake would move seawater directly to the Great Salt Lake through a dedicated conveyance corridor.

Plate 05Treatment plant
Concept illustration of a large-scale desalination and treatment plant at the Great Salt Lake

Treat at the reserve.

The restored lake feeds one large-scale desalination and treatment plant. The plant separates freshwater from the saline purge and manages both as engineered outputs.

Plate 06Regional delivery
Concept illustration of a regional water delivery network from the Great Salt Lake

Deliver where demand is real.

Finished water moves through regional storage, municipal, agricultural, industrial, recharge, and emergency delivery nodes.

Project scope / working thesis

One source.
One reserve.
One network.

01 / Source

Oregon Coast seawater intake and pump works.

02 / Conveyance

Direct seawater movement from Oregon to the Great Salt Lake.

03 / Treatment

Large-scale desalination, freshwater production, and saline purge management.

04 / Destination resort

Hospitality, recreation, attractions, and visitor experiences envisioned as a revenue engine for the waterworks.

Water estimate

9.3B gal/day

Screening figure; measurement point is undefined. It is not a delivered freshwater forecast.

Capital frame

$100B–$250B

Planning range only; refine through route, power, land, plant, and delivery estimates.

Commercial ambition

A profitable destination

Evaluate resort and visitor revenue alongside potential water services against construction, financing, and operating costs.

Order-of-magnitude concept figures only. No cost, volume, route, energy, environmental, or delivery estimate is an engineering commitment.

The proposition

Turn a public expense into a destination with earning power.

The proposal combines Oregon-to-Great Salt Lake seawater infrastructure with a destination resort inspired by Disneyland. Profitability is the ambition; demand, cost, financing, and operational studies must establish whether it can be achieved. Disneyland is a reference for the visitor experience, with no Disney affiliation claimed.
